For the past 5 years, librarians from the Enoch Pratt Free Library have worked to provide programming related to local LGBTQ+ history to audiences across the state. By involving community elders, reaching out to local organizations, and connecting with youth groups, we have both found and cultivated an audience interested in a deeply underrepresented topic. In this program we’ll discuss our experiences doing this, what’s worked and what hasn’t, and reflect on how this might be applied to libraries and those planning library programs across Maryland and Delaware.
